Parenting Solutions for Your Family ...

SITUATION: You are a blended family and your spouse’s child will not obey you, saying, “You are not my father (or mother), so I don’t have to listen to you.”
SOLUTION: The WE is between natural parent and child, which is what will usually happen in a blended family situation. This is dysfunctional! Parenting in a blended family is much more difficult. With natural parents, the child really wants the WE between the parents to be there. That represents the child’s security. In a blended family, the child really wants to split the new WE apart (so that the original WE can come back together). The solution is to form a new WE that is strong enough so that the child cannot break it apart. When this happens, the child will actually feel the security of the new WE and will no longer try to break it apart!

Single Dad

Hi, my name is Jason and I am a single father of a wonderful little girl, Madalyn. She is two and half, as of June 20, 2007, and is the best thing to happen to me. I am excited, filled with joy, nervous, and scared all at the same time. It is my hope that through this blog I can watch myself grow while getting valuable feedback from visitors...Thanks for visiting and posting your much needed comments.
